Title: Keeping it Simple for Management...S.H.I.P. and other easy analogies to explain what should happen and what happens when it doesn't.
Subtitle: How to place the blame effectively!
Abstract:
MBAs and other business school graduates, ya gotta love 'em. I mean, who else can really screw up
your life with a simple "that doesn't seem very valuable/important to the company right now." But you
know, it comes back to finding a simple communication methodology to bring them "up to date" on
technology and other issues of security, privacy and compliance.
Yes, like the parables of Jesus and Mohamed. Akin to Aesop's Fairy Tales. And those lovable analogies
and anecdotes of our own learning curves. It's time to provide mental handles, as well as fiscal
ones, for those who spent too much time learning about pie charts.
This will be a fun session, with examples and ideas of how to explain matters of importance in ways
that will help their importance be realized. Yes, the "Herding Cats" video will be here, as will
various other favorites.
And probably most importantly, ways to judge whether or not your analogy will have any success in
persuading, or at least truly informing, those that need to know.
